my final surrealism photomontage! <3
This is my montage for the third portfolio task which was to create a Surrealist image. It’s based on a dream I had shortly before the project, wherein I was playing Goldeneye on the Nintendo 64 and I was Hitler while my brother was Winston Churchill. There was also an bit involving my friend having his guts removed but remaining alive. It was pretty surreal, to say the least!
A number of the images I found for this picture were black and white, so I decided to prevent a clash I would make the whole image greyscale, with the exception of the blood guts. I feel these splashes of colour provide an interesting contrast, akin to Sin City. The hitler-ape-beast on the left of the image is cut from an image by John Heartfield, an artist I researched in response to this brief.
If I were to do this again, I’d perhaps do something more vivid and action-packed, there are some gaps with not a lot going on in this image which is a little disappointing, but I think it’s alright.
